tweed-logoAs you’ve probably noticed, big changes are coming to the Canadian cannabis landscape, and we’re ready. You might say we were born ready. For the past four years, we’ve been producing quality cannabis products for tens of thousands of Canadians. We’ve grown, we’ve learned a lot, and we’ve fine-tuned things along the way.

How it all started.

We set up shop four years ago, in an abandoned Hershey’s chocolate factory in Smiths Falls, Ontario. Our idea was simple: here’s a remarkable plant that can be a force for good—let’s share it. A handful of passionate people quickly grew into a community that worked together to bring this idea to life. We’re thankful to the pioneers who came before us, and to those who joined us along the way. They taught us a lot.

Our history is filled with proud firsts.

In fact, we were the first licensed cannabis producer to build an online marketplace that brought together multiple brands under one roof. Offer our recreational products from coast to coast. Introduce a national social purpose initiative in the Tweed Collective. Promote responsible driving in partnership with MADD Canada. Legally export cannabis and open a cannabis visitor center to welcome and educate people from around the world….okay, you get the point.

Q What is the difference between THC and CBD?

Cannabinoids are the active compounds found within cannabis. The two most commonly discussed cannabinoids are THC and CBD, due to the fact that they are found in relatively high concentrations in the plant.
THC (delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol) is the main active ingredient within cannabis. It is the compound which is attributed to producing the majority of the psychoactive effects of cannabis.

CBD (Cannabidiol) is the second most prominent compound within cannabis. CBD is a non-psychoactive cannabinoid.

Q What is a Terpography?

Terpography is a visual mapping tool that Tweed Main Street designed to help customers choose the strains that are right for them. The Terpography map represents the profile of aromatic terpenes that give cannabis strains distinct smells and tastes. By looking at a strain's Terpography, you can get a sense of what it will smell like before you buy.

Q What are granulated or milled products?

Granulated (Gran Flos) or milled products are not leaf trim or “shake” but rather whole flower cannabis (bud) that has been broken into smaller pieces.

Granulated cannabis tests at the same potency as whole flower and you should not experience any medical differences between using granulated or whole flower cannabis.

We suggest trying a small five gram order if you are trying to determine your preference. Granulated or milled cannabis may be ideal for those who are transforming their cannabis into edibles or other forms, for example, or those who may have difficulty with their hands due to pain. No need to grind, it is ready to use!
